Document Description
San Joaquin Field Division plans to remove around 10 to 15 feet of sediment from a manmade sump located around 1.1 miles northeast of Devil’s Den Pumping Plant (DEPP). The sump is around 155 feet long and 50 feet wide. To do this work, staff will use a long reach excavator to remove sediment. The excavator would be parked either south or east of the sump. A front loader might also be used to excavate. If used, the front loader would enter and exit through the south of the sump. All sediment would be loaded onto a dump truck and transported to the DEPP spoil site, which is located east of the plant. At the spoil site, all sediment would be compacted and graded into the ground. A water truck might be used to control dust and aid in compaction. All work will take place within DWR’s right of way. This work is necessary to maintain the sump.
