Document Description
To provide a safe pedestrian access, a new 4-feet wide trail, approximately 800 feet long along the base of the undeveloped hillside on the south side of Garin Avenue in Hayward. Construction of the trail will include the use of a small tractor (or equivalent) to cut a shallow bench in portions of the trail on steeper slopes and only minor grading in flatter areas. The trail will be graveled and may include the trimming of one small coast live oak tree (Quercus agrifolia). Trail access will be from an existing access gate at the intersection with Bello Road and a new access gate will be provided approximately 200 feet to the east of that location. The public currently walks along the roadway to enter the main entrance of the park, which is a public safety concern. The trail will provide safe pedestrian access into the park, separated from the roadway along the same path of travel. Tree trimming of one small oak tree may be needed to provide clear line of site for pedestrians and vehicles.
