Document Description
The California Public Utilities Commission has adopted the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact prepared and approved by the United States Army as equivalent to a Mitigated Negative Declaration consistent with Title 14 CCR 15225(a).
The California Public Utilities Commission has approved Southwest Gas Corporation to expand its natural gas service territory to include the Fort Irwin Cantonment including the construction of approximately 21.3 mile, 6-inch steel, distribution main pipeline to deliver natural gas service.
All but approximately 100 feet of the pipeline will be installed on Fort Irwin’s property. The approximate 100 feet of pipeline and related facilities not installed on Fort Irwin’s property will be installed on property owned and maintained by the Bureau of Land Management of the United States Department of the Interior (BLM) within an established utility corridor. In addition to the pipeline, a regulator station will be installed on BLM property that will tie into existing Kern River transmission pipe via a tap site on the BLM property.
Southwest Gas will serve Fort Irwin through two meters. One meter will serve the CHP plant that Fort Irwin intends to construct with a delivery pressure of 160 MCFH at 30 PSIG. The other meter will generally serve the other needs of Fort Irwin with a delivery pressure of 337 MCFH at 25 PSIG and replace the current use of liquefied natural gas (LPG). Upon completion, Fort Irwin will be served under Southwest Gas Rate Schedules GS-66 and GS-40.
