Document Description
The City of Carlsbad will work with San Diego Gas & Electric to perform the aerialto-
underground conversion of overhead utilities on Valley Street and Magnolia Avenue. The work will consist of: digging an approximately 5-foot deep by 2.5-foot wide trench along the public right-of-way; installing conduit, cable and substructures, along with aboveground facilities, such as electric transformer boxes and telecommunication equipment pedestals; removing existing overhead utility lines and poles;
upgrading utility poles or installing new ones at the boundaries of the project as needed for the transition to the new underground system; relocating an SDGE gas main line and service lines beneath Magnolia Avenue, east of Valley Street; establishing individual customer connections; and restoring surfaces to preexisting conditions once the work is completed.

not exceed the scope of a project that is exempt under the provisions of Section 15302(d) which allows for the conversion of overhead electric utility distribution system facilities to underground including Revised 04/19 connection to existing overhead electric utility distribution lines where the surface is restored to the condition existing prior to the undergrounding.
