Document Description
DWR SJFD plans to upgrade the communication system at Lost Hills O&M center. To do this work, contractors will unearth Verizon’s junction box. An area of approximately 6ft long by 6ft wide by 3ft deep of dirt would be removed. Excavation will take place along the California aqueduct access road. A backhoe and hand tools would be used to excavate. A light tower might be used to illuminate the area. Once the dirt is removed, Verizon will open the box and tie DWR’s fiber optic cable to Verizon’s main fiber optic line. After testing the cables, the junction box would be closed and reburied. The work is estimated to take 5 hours to complete and is planned to start at midnight. All work will be completed within DWR’s right of way. This work is necessary to upgrade DWR’s aging communication infrastructure.
