Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is proposing to install an off-channel vertical fish screen at an existing water intake called Diversion 47 on French Creek a tributary of the Scott River. Currently, water is diverted at a headgate into a 24” pipe for 75’ and enters a diversion ditch with an existing fish screen 1000 feet east of the supply headgate of the diversion ditch. The 1000-foot distance to the existing fish screen is problematic and can lead to fish stranding. The project proposes to place a new fish screen within 20 feet of the supply head gate which will eliminate the fish stranding. The screen will allow water to continue in the diversion ditch but will enable fish to return to French Creek. There will be two pipes installed that exit the screen and return to French Creek. One 10-inch diameter pipe will return fish to French Creek, a second 18-inch diameter pipe will be for seasonal maintenance. The existing fish screen will be dismantled and removed.
