Document Description
The project is limited to the placement of rock slope protection (RSP) along approximately 130 linear feet of the bank of the Sacramento River and a riverine side channel to protect against future erosion that could cause loss of property. The bank will be excavated to a depth of at least 3.25 feet, up to 13.5 feet from the edge of the riverbank. Class ¼ ton RSP (two-foot diameter) will be placed a minimum of two feet thick along the bank of the river. RSP will be placed to form a 1:1 slope on the bank of the river. Equipment required to complete the work will include trucks to haul and export material and an excavator with thumb attachment. The project could require up to 15 workdays to complete. Work will occur when flows in the Sacramento River are low enough that the work area is naturally de-watered. The project involves the temporary loss of 0.017 acres of existing vegetation along the bank of the Sacramento River, including herbaceous vegetation, woody vines, and young trees. Onsite restoration and enhancement of native riparian vegetation will occur so that there is no net loss of riparian habitat through vegetation removal and suppression.
