Document Description
The San Dieguito Union High School District proposes to renovate the locker room facilities at Torrey Pines High School. The existing 10,910-square-foot boys’ and girls’ locker facilities in the school gymnasium would be modernized with new equipment and fixtures to meet current operational needs, including to provide separate girls’ and boys’ locker team rooms, separate men and women coaches’ restroom and locker facilities, a new custodial/laundry room, all-gender restroom facility, and co-ed trainer room with exterior building access. The Project also includes a new exterior walkway on the north side of the gymnasium to provide direct access between two existing access points into the girls’ locker room. All improvements would comply with applicable Title 24 California Building Standards Code, including the Building Code (Part 2), Fire Code (Part 9), Energy Code (Part 6), and Green Building Code (Part 11). The Project would also comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 applies as the proposed improvements would not result in the physical expansion of the locker room facilities or their use or the operation of Torrey Pines High School. Class 4 applies as all areas disturbed by the proposed improvements would be restored with pavement and/or landscaping. Three trees would be removed for the installation of the walkway; however, they are ornamental and not considered scenic and mature. Class 14 applies as the proposed school facility improvements would have no effect on the classroom count at Torrey Pines High School or its student enrollment capacity. None of the exceptions listed under CEQA Guidelines §15300.2 apply to the Project.
