Reasons for Exemption
CEQA does not apply to forest health treatments undertaken on federal lands to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire that have been reviewed under NEPA if the primary role of a state or local agency is to provide funding or staffing for those projects. Yuba County Water Agency would provide funding and implementation assistance for fuel reduction treatments on up to 4,766 acres on federal land in the Tahoe National Forest. The proposed activities were reviewed in their entirety pursuant to NEPA in the Camp Project Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact, signed in 2013.
