Document Description
Construction and operation of multiple 16-foot-tall carport-style solar arrays (between 629 to 1100 KW) over existing parking lots in Lots F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F8, F9, F10, M, and Lyle Center. Systems in Lots F and M will be sized to produce approximately 8,500 MWh AC in the first full year of operation. Existing solar array system at Lyle Center to be removed and replaced with proposed solar array system with new canopies and sized to produce approximately 346 MWh AC in the first full year of operation. The canopy solar arrays will connect to the campus’ main substation at Building #192 to minimize energy dependence from the SCE grid. Construction is anticipated to last 7 months.

The project is statutorily exempt pursuant to PRC §21080.35, as it is proposed in existing parking lots used for vehicle parking for at least two years; does not include a substation or transmission or distribution facilities; is located on the same parcel of the buildings to be served; does not occupy more than 500 square feet of ground surface; does not occupy area that contains plants protected by the Native Plant Protection Act; does not require a permit pursuant to the federal Clean Water Act, waste discharge requirements pursuant to the California Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, a permit for species protected under the federal Endangered Species Act or the California Endangered Species Act, and/or a streambed alteration permit pursuant to California Fish and Game Code; is located on existing parking lots, but does not remove trees required to be planted, maintained, or protected pursuant to local, state, or federal requirements, or removal of native trees over 25 years old.
