Document Description
Water Initiatives Planning and Management Branch has been coordinating monitoring of 127 seepage and groundwater monitoring wells in the Delta. These wells were implemented by DWR as part of legacy programs which are no longer in existence (e.g. Interim South Delta Program and CALFED). Since this time, most of the wells have been discontinued and have not been actively monitored for several years. The scope of this work includes properly decommissioning these wells over the next several years. During the initial phase of the decommissioning efforts five wells (ND-37, ND-42, ND-47, ND-50, and ND-53) located on Staten Island were decommissioned. As part of the second (current) phase, 7 additional wells were identified for decommissioning (ND-20, ND-21, ND-23A, ND-35, ND-64, ND-69, and ND-73) located on Staten Island, along the North Mokelumne River levee.
