Document Description
This project will renovate approximately 6,874 square feet of office and laboratory space on the first floor of Hutchison Hall for research under the College of Biological Sciences, Neurobiology, Physiology & Behavior. The renovation will create two separate animal vivarium and collaborative space. The scope of work includes demolition, modifications to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, relocation of a fume hood, adding movable furniture, flooring, signage, and paint.

This project includes repairs and renovation to existing interior space with no expansion of existing use. This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
