Document Description
The Alameda County Public Works Agency (ACPWA) routinely maintain approximately 471 centerline miles of roadways in the unincorporated areas of Alameda County. County trees in need of trimming or removal may be located on access roads, unincorporated roadways, vacant lots, median islands, and other unincorporated parcels. Tree trimming and tree removal services (emergency or non-emergency) are required on an as-needed basis, year-round. Trees in need of trimming or removal under contract are related to unsafe or deteriorating trees, down trees or branches due to strong wind, or hazardous trees. Trees located near utility and communications lines, service drop lines or fence lines will require occasional maintenance trimming for reduction of fuel management. Tree removal require whole or partial trees that are standing on or have fallen onto ACPWA property and are in need of removal due to disease, old age, flooding potential, right-of-way obstruction, and/or are deemed an imminent threat to public safety. Emergency trees trimming or removal in response to weather events and/or traffic incidents, removal of dead trees, woody debris and other vegetation to reduce volume of flammable fuel as necessary. Tree stump grinding and/or treatment sometimes will also be required.
