Document Description
CDCR Leasing and Property Management Section would like to move forward to renew the lease of the Galt Warehouse. The warehouse is used to store shooting targets, cadet dorm furniture, and correctional academy training materials, etc. CDCR will renew the lease for the spaces currently occupied and will not need any additional suites or rooms at this time. In addition, CDCR would like the Department of General Services (DGS) to negotiate a standard lease term of 8 years. This would include a term that is 4 years firm and 4 years soft. It is anticipated there will be no tenant improvements that will occur as part of the lease renewal.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from CEQA under the “Class 1” (14 CCR §15301) exemption per the CEQA Guidelines because the project involves negligible to no expansion of use. The project site is not in an environmentally sensitive area and none of the exceptions to this exemption are applicable. This is one of a class of projects that the Secretary for Resources has found do not have a significant effect on the environment, and therefore is declared to be categorically exempt from the requirement for preparing an environmental document.
