Document Description
This project involves the trimming and removal of dead, dying, diseased, insect infested and suppressed trees near structures and RV campsites within the Humboldt County Fairgrounds RV Park. A hazard tree assessment study was recently completed by a licensed arborist which identified several trees as having a high risk to life, safety and property and should be treated as Hazard Trees. Additionally, the hazard trees are growing close together and are causing a fire hazard due to their close proximity to structures and propane tank(s).

The hazard tree removal project mentioned herein falls under Categorical Exemption Class 1 (Existing Facilities) and Class 4 (Minor Alterations to Land) under State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 and 15304. This exemption applies to projects that are existing facilities and minor alterations of land or vegetation that does not involve the removal of "healthy" or mature trees unless for forestry and/or agricultural purposes. A secondary benefit of his project is the reduction of fire hazard purposes. There are no unusual circumstances or historical resources that would make this exemption inapplicable.
