Installation of two new in-water concrete platforms (Berth 877: 40-feet x 20-feet supported on (8) 42-inch (D) steel piles; Berth 878: 60-feet x 20-feet supported on (12) 42-inch (D) steel piles) to support a new 70-foot reach crane at each Berth. A new 5-foot x 10-foot concrete walkway, cable handling system, and 10 megavolt amperes (MVA) dry transformer will be installed at each Berth. Additionally, the project involves installation of a new 20-foot x 70-foot concrete foundation to support a new electrical substation consisting of a 25 MVA oil-filled transformer and associated switchgear. Electrical conduit will be installed from the new substation to the berths.

The project involves the installation of in-water concrete platforms, concrete walkways, cable handling systems, dry transformers, concrete foundations, and associated electrical equipment to an existing facility involving no expansion of existing or former use. The Port has determined that none of the exceptions to the exemptions in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15300.2 foreclose the use of the categorical exemption CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (Existing Facilities); therefore, the Project is exempt from CEQA and no further environmental review is required.
