Document Description
The purpose of this emergency project is to install a temporary debris barrier wall, approximately 10 to 15 feet high and approximately 250 feet in length, to protect the railroad tracks from slope-side material and falling debris. This work follows a recent slope failure that occurred at this location in late January. Once the private property owners up-slope have stabilized the slope, the debris barrier wall would be removed.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Statutory Exemption

Reasons for Exemption
Failure to act immediately would result in potential damage to the rail corridor from a larger-scale landslide that would likely render the railroad line out of service for many months. Passenger rail service has been halted until further notice and freight is running on a day-to-day assessment at reduced speeds.
