Document Description
The purpose of this project is to replace segments of corroded above-ground pipes and 31 leaky valves and MOVs at the Roger Teagarden Ion Exchange Treatment Plant. The pipe/valve replacement project will improve the reliability of the plant and is a necessary repair for safe operation of the Ion Exchange Treatment Plant during summer. All 31 leaky valves are above-ground and will be replaced by similar valves by the JCSD maintenance staff. No excavation is required for the valve/MOVs replacement. This project includes the removal and replacement of approximately 250 feet of 8", 90 feet of 6", and 10 feet of 4" above-grade piping, fittings, and appurtenances. Replacement of the leaky pipes will be accomplished by the contractors by removing the old leaky pipes and replacing them with new stronger stainless-steel pipe either by method of welding or via flanges. This project will not have any major excavation. However, Contractor is required to restore all areas altered by construction to pre-existing conditions. Such areas shall include, but shall not be limited to, areas used for travel, parking, and storage of vehicles, equipment and materials.

The proposed project constitutes regular maintenance at the Roger Teagarden Ion Exchange Treatment Plant by replacing the existing above-ground leaky pipes with new stronger stainless-steel pipes and replacing leaky valves and MOVs with the same type of valves. This project will not increase or expand the existing use of this facility.
