Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review which determined that the project meets the categorical exemption criteria set forth in CEQA State Guidelines, Section 15301 (a) and (c) [Existing Facilities], which allows for the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use such as upgrades to existing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and curb ramps; Section 15302 [Replacement or Reconstruction], which allows for replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity including upgrades to existing sidewalks, turf replacement, and irrigation; Section 15303 [New Construction], which allows for construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures including new accessible drinking fountain and associated ADA improvements; and where the exceptions listed in Section 15300.2 would not apply.
