Document Description
The Transcendence Theater Company proposes a four-weekend series of theatre performances to take place in the Sonoma Plaza in the months of June, July, August, and September. The proposed schedule of events includes June 19-24, 2024, July 24-29, 2024, August 14-19, 2024, and September 18-23, 2024. The event is open to the public with ticket purchase, attendance is limited to no more than 1,200 people. Staging, seating, and equipment needed for the performance would take place on the Wednesday before the weekend of the event. The stage structure, seating, and larger equipment would be left in place during the duration of the weekend. Temporary staging, backstage area, and theatre seating for the performance will be located on the grass.

Pursuant to Section 15323 (Normal Operations of Facilities for Public Gatherings) and Section 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land) of the CEQA Guidelines. The project is categorically exempt because it consists of the normal operations of the Sonoma Plaza for a series of special events. The Sonoma Plaza is regularly used for public gatherings, was designed for this purpose, and there is past history of the facility being used for the same or similar kind of purpose. Additionally, the project would entail a minor temporary use of land having negligible or no permanent effects on the environment.
