The project would install additional intersection lighting, new traffic signal vehicle heads with retroreflective backplates, and advance stop bars with upgraded high visibility crosswalk markings at 15 signalized intersections throughout the City. These safety enhancements will be implemented at intersections on high-speed roads that have a history of nighttime collisions. No ground disturbance, new traffic lanes, or construction of new structures would be required to implement the project. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic safety throughout the City. All of the traffic signal upgrades are intended to increase traffic signal safety, reduce broadside and rear-end collisions, and reduce auto-pedestrian and auto-bicyclist collisions.
