Document Description
The Project comprises expanding the existing approximately 530-acre China Gulch Shaded Fuel Break by approximately 70 acres predominantly across private property. The Project will create a safer community for residents of south Redding and north Happy Valley as well as provide a safer evacuation route in the event of an emergency by expanding the China Gulch Shaded Fuel Break along Shasta County roads and around housing subdivisions. The proposed expansion areas (Project Area) are located in three separate locations adjacent to the completed China Gulch Shaded Fuel Break.

Reasons for Exemption
WSRCD has determined that the objectives of fuel reduction and the implementation activities as designed for this project will result in minor alterations to vegetation and therefore fits within the §15304 exemption. WSRCD has also determined that no exceptions exist that would preclude the use of this exemption, such as: (a) sensitive location, (b) cumulative impact, (c) significant effects on the environment, (d) impacts to scenic highways, (e) activities within a hazardous waste site, and (f) significant adverse change to the significance of any historical resource.
