Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number NEV-34647-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Lake Wildwood Association. The project is limited to the sediment removal from the Deer Creek inlet on Lake Wildwood approximately every 3 to 4 years. The project will involve dredging and sediment removal operations totaling approximately 200,000 cubic yards within a grading area totaling approximately 6.5 acres. During sediment removal years, the lake is drawn down by approximately 10 to 12 feet beginning around early September going through October by increasing water releases into lower Deer Creek over a period of several weeks. A channel will be created approximately 3-5 feet wide and 8-12 inches deep to isolate the water coming from Deer Creek from the sediment removal operations and prevent sediment material from entering the modified portion of the channel. Lake water is released through a set of slide gates at the bottom of the lake appropriately throttling the release of water through the Anthony House Dam outlet valve to achieve flows no greater than 40 cubic feet per second. Several days after the initiation of the lake drawdown, dredged and excavated sediment is stockpiled at upland locations on Lake Wildwood Association property. Sediment is then hauled approximately 0.5 mi to a prepared disposal site. At the sediment disposal site, approximately 1.5 acres of trees will be removed to create more space for sediment disposal. A total footprint of approximately 900 square feet of drained sediment is temporarily stockpiled during dredging activities below the lake's ordinary high-water mark.
