Document Description
Over a period of 10 years, project work will restore three acres of agricultural buffers within Wilder Ranch State Park to separate recreational land use from surrounding working farmland to allow for identifiable recreation areas for public use, provide habitat for wildlife, and aid in erosion prevention. This work will be accomplished by strategically planting native plants in locations adjacent to established native vegetation hot spots, within existing agricultural buffers. Work will: • Prior to planting, staff will identify restoration plots to determine plot location and what native species are already established • Treat non-native vegetation in the plots through either brush cutting, mowing, or use of approved herbicide; and • Use hand tools to scalp/clear an area 1-2 feet in diameter and plant native plants in the center of the cleared area.

Project consists of the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; the minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, water and/or vegetation, which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry or agricultural purposes; and projects not to exceed five acres in size to assure the maintenance, restoration, enhancement, or protection of habitat for plants and is included as “revegetation with native plants” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4
