Document Description
The project installs 20 new larger-capacity Pyxis tower units throughout the Main Hospital and updates the 40 existing Pyxis units for the Davis Tower on floors 3, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 14. Existing Pyxis units do not meet seismic anchoring or critical power requirements by Joint Commission and HCAI standards. By installing 20 new larger-capacity Pyxis units, seismically anchoring the existing equipment, and providing critical power upgrades, this project maximizes medication access and ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and Department of Health Care Access and Information requirements. The project scope also includes the relocation of electrical switches, fire alarm panels, and casework to support the installation of the Pyxis units; upgrades to the electrical system; and replaces floors, wall and ceiling finishes.

This project will renovate existing interior space. There will be no expansion of existing use. This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the Implementation to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). This exemption applies to the operation, repair, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of the existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
