Document Description
The proposed project would remove the existing H-frame temporary tower and replace with a permanent, steel lattice transmission tower. Project activities include grading to create work pads suitable to construct the new tower by allowing staging for construction equipment and vehicles. Other activities that will involve ground disturbance include creating pads for heavy equipment, repairing a portion of the LA Bureau of Power and Light Road (approximately 0.75 miles) due to erosion damage, and reestablishing a spur road to the graded tower pad.

In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), this project is Categorically Exempt from CEQA review pursuant to section 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction). Section 15302, Class 2 consists of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, including the replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems/facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. The proposal for the Victorville-Century Transmission Line 2 Tower 198-4 Replacement Project meets the requirements of these exemptions; therefore, no further CEQA review is required.
