Document Description
The purpose of the Project was to restore Merk Creek, a tributary to the West Fork Carson River, to its original channel after soils in a post-fire environment mobilized and deposited sediment that plugged a culvert and rerouted the creek. During the week of July 24, 2023, the Project replaced the 8-inch culvert that had filled with sediment with a 24-inch culvert, armored the banks along the original creek channel to prevent future erosion, and removed sediment to allow flow back into the original channel.
