Document Description
The Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (District) proposes to rehabilitate a minor horizontal joint displacement along an approximately 34-foot-long portion of the existing vertical concrete flood control channel wall of San Lorenzo Creek (District Zone 2 Line B), located behind 20941 Birch Street in Hayward. The project involves the installation of six 24-inch diameter, 25.5-foot deep reinforced concrete piles placed at 6 feet on center, behind the existing 13-foot high vertical channel wall; excavation and disposal of approximately 37 cubic yards of soil behind the concrete wall within the existing access road, for an approximately 170-square-foot area to install the new piles; backfill excavated area behind the concrete wall with lightweight fill consisting of controlled low-strength material (CLSM); installation of five horizontal underground wall anchors; installation of underground concrete grade beam; and restoration of the maintenance access road to its original elevation. All work will be performed from the top of the maintenance access road, outside of the concrete channel. The purpose of the project is to stabilize the existing vertical concrete channel wall from further deflection to extend the service life of the District’s flood control facilities.
