Document Description
The Department of State Hospitals is proposing to replace the roof on Receiving and Treatment Building (Building 168) with the Napa State Hospital grounds as it has reached the end of its useful life. Work will replace existing 112,330 square foot clay tile roof and single ply roofing with standing seam metal and single ply roofing. Work includes the removal of the existing roof, removal of hazardous materials within the roof system, replacing the roof drains, roof gutters and rainwater leaders as needed. Work will also include modifying 2 sets of guardrails provide for fall protection adjacent to mechanical units on the roof and installing traffic coating to exterior pedestrian areas over inhabited building spaces below.

Class 1 exemption allows for the operation, repair, maintenance, and minor alterations to existing public structures, facilities, mechanical equipment where it involves no or negligible expansion of use. Building #168 is part of the Napa State Hospital, an historic era facility which has been evaluated for eligibility for listing as a historic resource and reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Office. The State has confirmed that Building 168 is not part of an historic district, nor is it eligible as an historic resource. No exceptions to the exemption apply.
