Type, Section or Code
CEQA Guidelines Section 15304, Minor Alterations to Land
Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to CEQA
Guidelines Section 15304 Minor Alterations to Land, which consists of minor public or private alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees except for forestry and agricultural purposes. This project is to protect homes, communities, critical infrastructure, and public and private lands from wildfire by reducing excess fuel loads on surrounding parcels. The Pit RCD commissioned environmental/specialists reports on resources in the project area, and a treatment prescription prepared by a Registered Professional Forester, and Pit RCD and the SNC determined that the project's implementation will result in multiple benefits - including restoration of the forest, watershed, and wildlife habitat, and will not no significant adverse impacts to natural or cultural resources. The project has been independently reviewed and the SNC has determined that none of the exceptions in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 would apply.
