Document Description
On March 5, 2025, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) executed a $276,064 grant from the Proposition 68 Restoration Grant Program and the Cannabis Restoration Grant Program to the City of Oxnard for the Project. The Project is designed to benefit coastal wetlands via hydrologic and habitat connectivity across the Ormond Beach area and associated wetland complex. The purpose of the project is to reverse the severe degradation of 41.5 acres of the coastal wetlands; provide habitat for fish and wildlife; improve water quality; and improve habitat resiliency to sea level rise. The Project will restore habitat by removing or controlling invasive and nonnative plant species that are competing with native vegetation and encroaching upon habitat for native plant species, debris removal, native plant enhancement, and monitoring water quality and pollution sources into Ormond Lagoon. This project will also facilitate the access, enjoyment and stewardship of the wetlands by local and disadvantaged communities.
