The proposed project is exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(e)(1) – Existing Facilities, additions to existing structures provided that the addition will not result in an increase of more than “50 percent of the floor area of the structures before the addition, or 2,500 square feet, whichever is less.” The existing residence is 2,607 square feet in floor area. The addition of 875 square feet comprises 34 percent of the existing structure. Thus, the project will not exceed 50 percent of the floor area of the structures before the addition.
