Document Description
The proposed project would improve Greenleaf Avenue in accordance with the proposed amendment to the Uptown Whittier Streetscape Beautification Plan that will further implement the Uptown Whittier Specific Plan's goal of leveraging the assets of Uptown Whittier to revitalize the area and establish it as a Town Center. The project includes street beautification concepts for: tree replacement and succession, streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, surface parking, street intersections, mid-block crossings, parking planters, parklets, paving, street tree and understory planting palette, site furnishings, lighting, art installations, accessible parking, valet service, parking meters, etc. Due to significant funding constraints, the Greenleaf Promenade section of the Streetscape Plan will be implemented at one time while other portions of the Streetscape Plan will be implemented over many phases and years as funding becomes available and development projects occur. The Uptown Whittier Streetscape Beautification Plan is an implementing action of the Uptown Whittier Specific Plan and Environmental Impact Report approved November 18, 2008 and amended on June 24, 2014.
