Document Description
The Project consists of replacing the existing 6-million-gallon (MG) Smith Reservoir and Pump Station which has reached the end of its useful life. The replacement reservoir will include: two below grade cast-in-place concrete tanks of the same size as the existing below grade tanks; a replacement pump station with increased maximum pumping capacity from 7,400 gallons per minute (gpm) to 8,400 gpm and with modernized with instrumentation and controls as well as improvements to facilitate maintenance; and construction of a valve vault and connection into existing City of Orange system in Cannon Street, at intersection of Taft Avenue and Cannon Street. Construction will occur in two phases: Phase 1 involves the East Tank and pump station; Phase 2 involves the West Tank. The Project will provide storage capacity to meet operational, fire, and emergency water demands for the District.
