Document Description
The Sonoma County Department of Public Infrastructure will perform vegetation removal along County Road right-of-way. The County's efforts will occur along the intersections of Lakeville Road between Old Lakeville Roads #2 and #3, at the intersection of Bonness Rd and East Bonness Rd, at the intersection of Roberts Rd and Roberts Ranch Ln, Bodega Hwy from Hwy 1 to the Cemetery and countywide as shown on the attached list of roads. Vegetation removal work will encompass clearance of 4 feet from the edge of pavement and 16 feet in height. The goal of this project is to remove vegetation and selected large hazard trees in the area adjacent to Sonoma County roads for safety and enhanced sight distance and may reduce wildfire's rate of spread, duration and intensity, fuel ignitability, and wildfire spreading from the surface to the canopy of trees. Vegetation removal will occur using mechanical methods, via heavy equipment and hand crews with chainsaws. Heavy equipment will remain along the road prism, and no ground disturbing activities will occur. Chipped or other leftover materials will be left on site to provide soil cover.
