Document Description
In a drought-stressed blue/live oak savanna and woodland, this project would plant a mix of native plants (milkweed, blue oak, and various shade tolerant riparian species) and install bird nest boxes. The objectives of the project are to (1) replace and expand the existing blue oak savanna and (2) create habitat for cavity nesting birds.

Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 4: Minor Alterations to Land (§15304)
Reasons for Exemption
The project is non-ground disturbing except for the minor disturbance of planting native plants as seeds and the installation of bird nesting boxes. When installing bird nesting boxes, workers will avoid any burrowing sites by species such as the burrowing owl or western spadefoot toad.
This review concluded that project implementation, as designed, would have less than significant impact in each resource area and an exemption pursuant to §15304 is indicated.
