Document Description
The project is limited to the removal of the existing twin 42-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) culverts that are failing and replacement with a 60-inch by 36-inch precast reinforced concrete box (RCB) culvert. The current culverts and proposed replacement culvert length are both 36-feet-long. The replacement culvert is sized for a 100- year storm. A trench will be cut through the pavement and road base to excavate the existing culverts, with equipment working from the roadway. The new culvert will then be placed in the trench in parts, assembled, and backfilled. Rock slope protection will be replaced within the existing footprint of the culvert to contain the backfilled material. All debris will be loaded onto dump trucks for disposal within a permitted and fully legal disposal site, and all excavation will occur within the existing culvert/road footprint. No exposed soils that could lead to future sources of sediment will remain following the completion of construction. Erosion control BMPs will be used and stored onsite. Dewatering of the site will be required if water is present at the site during project activities. All impacts from this project are temporary and will be located within the existing paved road prism.
