Document Description
Undertake an emergency road repair project on Mattole Road in Humboldt Redwoods State Park to repair damage from a landslide triggered by an earthquake, followed by extreme rain events, to reopen the road and restore a much-needed traffic corridor for
park staff and the local surrounding community. The reconstruction, work will:
Remove all hazardous trees blocking the road;
Replace culvert;
Remove the buckled asphalt and an additional three quarters of a mile of pavement;
Regrade, as needed, to reestablish the road alignment;
Install a layer of aggregate base rock to serve as the road surface; and
Install interim monitoring points to allow for continued slope movement monitoring while permanent
monitoring equipment is installed.
