Document Description
CAL FIRE would provide funding to the Butte County Fire Safe Council to conduct a variety of treatment methods, including handcut pile and burn, lop and scatter, mastication, hazardous tree removal, and prescribed burning on land within the wildland urban interface (WUI) to integrate forest health promotion with hazardous fuels reduction, and to generate commercial forest by-product. These treatments will reduce wildfire risks to local resources and community members, promote native plant and wildlife species, and improve forest resiliency.

CEQA does not apply to fuel reduction, reforestation, & habitat restoration projects undertaken, in whole or in part, on federal lands to reduce the risk of high severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the NEPA, if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. The proposed project was reviewed in its entirety under the Feather River Ranger District, Plumas National Forest NEPA Concow Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision, signed July 1, 2011.
