Document Description
Install an interpretive panel at the Mining Complex Loop Trail at Plumas-Eureka State Park to inform visitors of historic mining operations during the California gold rush-era. This panel will provide location, direction, and understanding of cultural resources to park visitors. Work will: • To the left of the Mining Complex Loop Trail, remove an existing parking bollard and backfill the hole with native material; • Remove rocks along the left trail edge and use hand tools to excavate two (2) 8- in. diameter post holes; • Insert two (2) 3-ft x 2-in. metal posts and pour concrete to secure; • Install two (2) hollow aluminum pedestals over the posts with each post exposed 1 ft from ground level and use pin-lock system to secure; • Attach a 32-in. x 40-in. panel (32 inches above ground height) to the metal pedestals; and • Expand ADA parking area 5 ft. to left, to accommodate panel placement. During winter, park staff will remove the panel and pedestals and protect exposed posts with orange cones, or a custom box, to protect snowplow machinery. Other possible solutions include installation of custom recessed post supports that will not extend above ground level when panel is removed.
