Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved the Emergency Bank Stabilization and Stream Restoration Project at Wolff Vineyards submitted by the Coastal San Luis Resource Conservation District, as represented by Niki Eschler. The Project includes activities pertaining to streambank stabilization and revegetation along 55 linear feet of stream. Existing riparian vegetation will be affected by clearing and grubbing activities. The bank of the stream will receive 140 cubic yards of backfill, 25 cubic yards of granite gabion rock, and 440 square feet of biodegradable erosion control materials. A 1.5:1 (horizontal:vertical) slope will be established. Revegetation will be performed with 440 square feet of an erosion control seed mix, 440 square feet of live willow stakes, and 440 square feet of native transplants. The work proposed will stabilize the eroded streambank and increase habitat complexity. Stabilizing the bank will reduce sedimentation into the receiving watershed, thus improving water quality to the benefit of aquatic species. Habitat complexity will provide resources and cover to foster species diversity and abundance.
