Document Description
The Kingvale PlaVada Community Wildfire Preparedness Project is Funded by the Truckee Fire Protection District as part of the Measure T Community Wildfire Prevention Grant program. The project includes the installation of street, bridge, address and evacuation route signing to improve community wildfire preparedness. The project area is located within the Kingvale and PlaVada Subdivisions which are part of unincorporated Nevada County. This project is critical for these communities for ingress and egress and adequate emergency response in the community. Currently, road and address signing are not to fire code or PRC 4291 standards and must be addressed for the safety of the community.

Reasons for Exemption
The project qualifies for a Categorical Exemption under CEQA Guidelines Section 15304. Pursuant to Section 15303, Class 4 consists of minor private alterations in the condition of land which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees. Field review by Truckee Fire Protection District staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The project consists of minor alterations to land by digging holes to install street signs. The activities proposed do not result in the taking of endangered, rare, or threatened plant or animal species, or sedimentation to surface waters. This project will not convert forestland to non-forest uses
