Document Description
Perform exploratory boring adjacent to the parking lot at Federation Grove in Humboldt Redwoods State Park to establish soil conditions for the purpose of expanding the existing parking lot. Work will use a truck-mounted drill, equipped with hollow-stem augers and/or solid stem rotary drilling equipment to drill up to four (4) exploratory borings in the vicinity of the existing parking lot pavement. Borings will range up to 40-ft in depth with representative soil samples recorded for future analysis. Borings will be back filled with neat cement grout and excess drill fluids and cuttings from the mud-rotary boring (if used) will be contained in 55-gallon drums and disposed of at a licensed disposal facility.

Project consists of the operation or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; the minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not include the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, and consists of basic data collection, research and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource, and is included as “Soils and structural engineering tests” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4.
