The project is a permanent transfer of 617 acre-feet of Tulare Lake Basin Water Storage District’s (Tulare’s) State Water Project (SWP) Maximum Annual Table A Amount to Empire West Side Irrigation District (Empire). Tulare and Empire are SWP Contractors with long-term water supply contracts with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), which contracts allow for transfers of SWP water between SWP Contractors subject to DWR approval.
