Document Description
Butte County Department of Public Works is proposing to construct an organic waste transloading facility that will assist with the loading of organic waste into transfer trucks at the Neal Road Recycling and Waste Facility (NRRWF) that will be subsequently transported to an off-site composting facility. The organic waste transloading area will be located on Waste Module 4 of the NRRWF. The transloading operation will be on the compacted intermediate cover of the lined waste module. In addition, a three-sided concrete block push wall would be located nearby where organic waste would be temporarily stored until it is loaded into the transfer trailer using a grapple. The proposed project is in response to Senate Bill (SB) 1383, which requires 50 percent reduction in the level of statewide disposal of organic waste from the 2014 level by 2020 and a 75 percent organic waste reduction by 2025.
