Document Description
The project will safely remove a historically significant water tank at Mendocino Woodlands State Park and replace it with a new 10,000-gallon polyethylene water storage tank to provide park staff and visitors with a reliable water source. An historic monitor will be on site while a team of skilled professionals use appropriate tools and equipment to dismantle the tank, section by section. The proposed removal will be completed with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment and wildlife and preserve the dismantled tank material in a manner that maintains its integrity and historical authenticity. Potential re-use of salvaged materials, possibly to clad the new water tank, thus replicating the historic tank’s design, aims to re-purpose the wood material in a manner that most accurately represents the original tank's appearance, purpose and design.
