Document Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to the Shasta College pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 2081(a) for educational purposes. The Section 2081(a) permit authorizes the applicant to incidentally take Longfin Smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), and steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) during the course of sampling, subject to terms and conditions set forth in the permit. The purpose of this sampling is for the Shasta College Earth Sciences Marine Education. The Section 2081(a) permit authorizes the applicant to potentially capture Longfin Smelt, Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, and steelhead trout during surveys. The applicant will conduct year-round research and permanent collection sampling of nearshore and estuarine fishes, invertebrates, and phytoplankton through the use of bottom trawls, beach seines, and plankton nets through December 31, 2024.
