Document Description
The County of Sonoma proposes to fund fuel reduction along a 1.2 mile section of Cavedale Road which connects two critical community assets: Fire Station 9, 4601 Cave dale Road (housing two engines and two cement, 11,000-gallon water tanks) and Fire Station 81 located at the corner of Trinity and Cavedale Road. Fuel reduction work will encompass the removal or pruning of dead, dying, or hazardous trees. The project grant also entails understory fuel reduction that will occur to reduce the volume of flammable vegetation in the project area. Vegetation and trees to be removed will be cut at grade, with stumps remaining in place. Heavy equipment will remain along the road prism, and no ground disturbing activities will occur. A fuel reduction prescription has been developed by a Registered Professional Forester. Slash and debris will be disposed of onsite via mulching or lop and scatter.
