The District has acquired the property at 701 North E Street. San Bernardino County and the District approved an emergency resolution to award a contract for the abatement and demolition of the structure onsite, which has triggered the preparation of this Notice of Exemption. The District plans to demolish the building as soon as possible. The building’s dilapidated condition constitutes an immediate risk to health and safety; thereby immediate demolition of the building would be beneficial for the public. The building has been subject to multiple enforcement efforts by the City of San Bernardino without success. The building has been illegally occupied by individuals who are homeless, and the building shows signs of significant physical deterioration and evidence of previous fires. Any future use of the site would be subject to additional environmental review.
