Document Description
The Riverside Dr Mainline Replacement Project proposes to replace approximately 2,426 feet of 6-inch and 5,430 feet of 8-inch mainline water distribution on Riverside Dr, Calhoun Ave, Murieta Ave, Huston St, Tilden Ave, Sylmar Ave, Lennox Ave, Tyrone Ave, Katherine Ave, and Stansbury Ave. Construction would include installation of new laterals for fire hydrants. Trenches will be 2 feet wide and 5 feet deep and will be back-filled with slurry to the base of the asphalt concrete pavement. The purpose of this project is to replace aging and leaking infrastructure in order to provide a reliable source of water to LADWP customers.

Reasons for Exemption
The Riverside Dr Mainline Replacement Project is categorically exempt pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines 15302 (c). This section states that Class 2 exemptions consist of replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, including but not limited to: (c) replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems and/or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. The project involves replacement of existing mainline water distribution piping with negligible expansion of capacity.
